Jett Rivera here. Everyone’s talking about boats. Fair. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show takes over the city from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1. But the docks close at 7, and this city doesn’t go to bed that early.
Between Oct. 22 and Nov. 7, Fort Lauderdale-area venues have 30 concerts and comedy shows on the calendar. Here are the eight I’d actually leave the docks for.

The warm-up week
Yung Gravy
The Joyrider Tour rolls into downtown. Pure party energy, a good kickoff before the boat crowds land.
Turnpike Troubadours, with Muscadine Bloodline
Red-dirt country with a crowd that sings every word. One of the War Memorial’s added fall tour dates.
Niko Moon, with Blake Proehl
Feel-good country made for a Saturday night. Easy call if you’ve got out-of-town friends in early for the show.
The Linda Lindas
Fast, loud and a blast in a room this size. The night before FLIBS opens.
During the boat show
Black Label Society, with Zakk Sabbath and Dark Chapel
The heavy one. Zakk Wylde pulling double duty on show day two. Walk the docks till 7, then go get loud.
The rest of boat show week, the action moves dockside. The galas, crew nights and brokerage parties are all on our running list of Fort Lauderdale Boat Show parties.

The cool-down week
Greensky Bluegrass
Jam-band bluegrass in a proper theater. Long sets, great sound, zero boat talk.
Christone “Kingfish” Ingram
If you’ve never seen him play blues guitar up close, this is the room to do it.
Victoria Monét
The big R&B night of the stretch. Yes, Kingfish is the same night. Pick your lane.

Where the music is
I counted every listed concert and comedy show at Fort Lauderdale-area venues for Oct. 22 through Nov. 7. The Parker leads with 8, then Revolution Live with 6 and the War Memorial with 5. Culture Room and the Broward Center have 4 each.

- Do the boats first. FLIBS closes at 7 p.m. most days and 5 p.m. Sunday. Most of these shows start at 7 or later.
- Book rides early. Boat show week means traffic and surge pricing all over town.
- Buy from the venue or its official ticket seller. Dates and lineups can change, so check before you go.
Want the week’s shows in your inbox? The Citywide.TV weekly email lands every Thursday. And for the money side of the boat show, my colleague Vivian has The $1.78 Billion Boat Show. For the boats themselves, see Alex Marlow’s dock plan.
Turn it up, South Florida. I’m Jett Rivera. See you at the show.
