Las Vegas — CES turns 60 this January, and it’s coming back bigger and stranger than ever. Registration for CES 2027 is open. The show runs Wednesday, Jan. 6, through Saturday, Jan. 9, 2027, and the cheap seats won’t last: a Standard pass is $149 through Nov. 30, then it jumps to $349.
Last January the show floor had robots folding laundry, a humanoid heading for car factories, a TV as thin as a pencil, a phone that folds three ways and an eight-motor aircraft you can fly yourself. Here’s a roundup of CES 2026 highlights, what’s already confirmed for the 60th edition, and everything you need to get in the door.
CES turns 60
The first CES opened in New York City on June 25, 1967, with about 17,000 people and more than 100 exhibitors showing off pocket radios and small TVs built with the new integrated circuits. It moved to Las Vegas for good in January 1978. Since then it has launched the home VCR, the CD player, the Xbox, OLED TVs and a long list of video game firsts from Atari, Nintendo, Tetris and Oculus (CES history).

CES 2027 is the show’s 60th anniversary. Today it pulls in more than 148,000 people and 4,100-plus exhibitors, roughly nine times the crowd at that first New York show.
The best of CES 2026, and why it matters for 2027
CES is where next year’s gadgets first show up, so last January is the best preview of what’s coming. Here’s what people were still talking about when they flew home.
The robots moved in

- LG CLOiD is a home robot built to fold laundry, fetch things and help with food prep. It doubles as a hub that runs LG’s other appliances by voice.
- Roborock’s Saros Rover is a robot vacuum on wheeled legs. It climbs stairs, spiral ones included, and cleans them on the way up. Dreame answered with the Cyber X stair climber and the Cyber 10 Ultra, a vacuum with an arm that picks things up off the floor.
- SwitchBot’s Onero H1 handles laundry, and Clutterbot’s Rovie sweeps kids’ toys into bins.
- Some robots were just for fun. Sharpa showed a humanoid that plays ping-pong and deals blackjack, and Agibot’s humanoids learned full dance routines. Zeroth priced a pint-size humanoid at $2,400.

Humanoids got real jobs
The headline robot was Atlas. Boston Dynamics and its majority owner Hyundai showed the production version: all-electric, able to lift 110 pounds, reach up to 7.5 feet and work from -4°F to 104°F. Hyundai plans to put it in its car plants starting in 2028, beginning with parts sequencing, and Google DeepMind is bringing its Gemini Robotics models to the platform. “This is the best robot we have ever built,” said Boston Dynamics CEO Robert Playter (Engadget).

Screens got ridiculous
- LG’s Wallpaper TV (W6) is an OLED about as thin as a pencil. It gets its picture wirelessly from a box up to 10 meters away, so the only cable on the wall is power (Engadget).
- Micro RGB and RGB mini-LED were everywhere. LG’s 100-inch Micro RGB demo showed much richer color than standard LED sets.
- Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold, a phone that unfolds twice into a tablet, made its U.S. debut at Samsung’s First Look event (SammyFans).
- Clicks went the other way with the Communicator, a keyboard phone built to make you use it less.

The AI brains behind all of it
Nvidia’s Jensen Huang said the Vera Rubin AI platform was in full production and showed Alpamayo, an AI model for self-driving cars, and Cosmos, which simulates the physical world so robots can learn in it. AMD’s Lisa Su opened the show with Ryzen AI 400 chips for laptops, Intel launched Panther Lake (Core Ultra Series 3), and Lenovo took over the Las Vegas Sphere for its Tech World keynote (Yahoo Tech).
Getting around, on the ground and in the air
Uber, Lucid and Nuro showed their robotaxi, which has 360-degree sensors and a lit “halo” on the roof that shows the rider’s initials. AIR unveiled the AIR ONE, an eight-motor personal eVTOL with about an hour of flight time and a 60- to 100-mile range. The company is targeting deliveries by the end of 2026 and calls it “the sports car of the sky” (Interesting Engineering). And Strutt’s ev1 is a four-wheel personal mobility pod that drives itself to where you tell it.

Weird, wonderful and surprisingly useful
- Razer’s Project AVA: a 5.5-inch 3D hologram of an AI companion that sits on your desk and coaches your gaming.
- HyperX’s Neurable headset: a gaming headset with EEG sensors that reads your brain waves to help you focus.
- Lego Smart Bricks: bricks with sensors, lights and sound that react when you play. Lego is pairing them with Star Wars sets.
- Eli Health’s Hormometer: a saliva test that checks your hormone levels at home with your phone.
- Skywheel: motorized skis that carve on regular ground.
- Lollipop Star: an $8.99 lollipop that plays music through your jawbone while you eat it.

What’s already confirmed for CES 2027
The first two keynotes are both about how we get around, and both land on Wednesday, Jan. 6, in the Palazzo Ballroom at The Venetian.

Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, goes on right after CTA’s State of the Industry address, which starts at 8:30 a.m. He’ll talk about how the 14-brand automaker uses technology across its vehicles, software and digital platforms. “Technology has the greatest impact when used to improve the way people live and move,” Filosa said in the announcement. Stellantis will exhibit in Booth 4518, LVCC West Hall.
Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO of Waymo, takes the same stage at 1 p.m. Waymo says it now runs fully driverless rides in 15 U.S. markets, handles more than half a million trips a week, and recently opened to public riders in Las Vegas itself (CES). That means some attendees will be able to hail a driverless ride to the show. Find Waymo in Booth 3741, LVCC West Hall.
- CES Foundry, the show’s new hub for AI and quantum computing, is back at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Jan. 6–8 (CES Foundry).
- The Road to CES runs through the fall. CES Asia Unveiled Seoul is Oct. 13–16 at COEX during the Korea Electronics Show. CES Asia Unveiled Hong Kong is Oct. 14, and the winner of its startup pitch competition gets free exhibit space in Eureka Park (CES, PR Newswire).
- CES Innovation Awards honorees are announced Nov. 9.
- More keynotes are coming. CES says it will add speakers through the fall, so watch the keynotes page.
- One big name is out. Bloomberg reported on Sept. 28 that Sony will skip CES 2027, ending decades of Las Vegas appearances (Bloomberg).
What we’ll be hunting for in Las Vegas
These aren’t announcements yet. They’re the threads we’ll be pulling on based on where last year left off.
- Humanoids with a job title. After Atlas, the question is who shows robots actually working, not just waving.
- Robots that do chores for real. Last year’s laundry folders and stair climbers were demos. We’ll be checking which ones ship.
- Robotaxis you can ride. With Waymo carrying public riders in Las Vegas and its co-CEO on the keynote stage, expect a lot of attendees to try one.
- Personal aircraft. AIR says the AIR ONE ships by the end of 2026. CES 2027 is the first chance to see where that stands.
- Screens. Micro RGB and wireless wall TVs were first-generation last year. The second generation usually shows up a year later.
- AI you can hold. Holographic companions, brain-reading headsets and AI gadgets were the weirdest part of the floor. There’ll be more.

The dates and hours
- Media Days: Jan. 4–5, including the media-only CES Unveiled at Mandalay Bay.
- Show floor: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Wed., Jan. 6; 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Thu., Jan. 7, and Fri., Jan. 8; 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Sat., Jan. 9.
- Conference program: starts Jan. 5 and runs through Jan. 8.
- CES Foundry (AI and quantum): Jan. 6–8 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
Times are Pacific. Full schedule: CES dates and hours.
What a pass costs
CES sells two main passes, and both go up on Dec. 1 (CES registration information):
- Standard pass: $149 through Nov. 30, then $349. Gets you the show floor, keynotes, Great Minds sessions and select conference sessions.
- Premium pass: $1,450 through Nov. 30, then $1,750. Adds every conference session and track, a pre-show webinar and partner programming.
- Build your own: start with Standard and add individual tracks.
One thing that trips people up: CES is trade only and 18+. You’ll need to show you work in or around the consumer tech industry, use your own email address, and upload a headshot. Badges are never mailed. You pick yours up in Las Vegas with a government photo ID.
How the show is laid out
CES isn’t one building. It’s 12 official venues and more than 2.5 million net square feet spread across four campuses, and knowing which is which saves you a lot of walking.

- Tech East, the Las Vegas Convention Center. West Hall is mobility, from self-driving cars to farm, construction and space vehicles. North Hall is AI, energy, IoT and smart cities. Central Hall is the biggest brands and home entertainment. South Hall is design and source plus accessories.
- Tech West, the Venetian Expo. Home of Eureka Park, the startup zone, plus digital health, smart home, food tech and accessibility. The CES Innovation Awards showcase is in Hall G, and the keynotes are upstairs in the Palazzo Ballroom.
- C Space, ARIA Level 2. Where marketing, advertising, media and entertainment people do their deals.
- CES Foundry, Fontainebleau Las Vegas. The hub for AI and quantum computing, a short walk from the Convention Center, open Jan. 6–8.

If you’re a founder or an investor, Eureka Park is the room. Last year it held more than 1,200 startups and drew 2,162 investors. If AI is your beat, head to CES Foundry, which CES pitches as the place where agentic AI and quantum move from slideware into real products.

CES 2026 by the numbers
CES 2026 drew 148,392 audited attendees, up 4% on the year before, including 55,841 from outside the U.S. (37.6%), from 141 countries and regions. It had more than 4,100 exhibitors, 307 Fortune 500 companies and 7,037 media, creators and analysts (CES 2026 audit).

The interest numbers tell you where the show is heading. Attendees who said AI was their focus rose 22% to 39,929. Robotics rose 26% to 19,605. That’s why this year’s floor is likely to look even more like a robot convention.
Key dates between now and January

Why this matters in South Florida and the Mid-Atlantic
CES is where the products and partnerships that show up in our own markets a year later get announced. Robotaxis, home robots, smart-home gear, health wearables and the AI tools local businesses are starting to buy all make their debut here. If you run a tech company, sell into retail, or advise people who do, $149 for four days of that is one of the better deals in the industry. Citywide.TV will be covering the run-up and the show. Keep an eye on our Tech Events calendar and Tech News.
