Art Basel Miami Beach
Art Basel Miami Beach is the December edition of Art Basel, the international art fair founded in Basel, Switzerland in 1970. It is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center and anchors Miami Art Week, when more than a dozen fairs open across Miami Beach and the mainland.
The Miami Beach fair was the first Art Basel edition outside Basel. Planned for 2001 and postponed after the September 11 attacks, it opened in December 2002. Art Basel is owned by Switzerland’s MCH Group and also runs fairs in Basel, Hong Kong, Paris and Qatar. UBS is the Global Lead Partner, and Bridget Finn is director of the Miami Beach show.
The fair is organized into sectors: Galleries for leading Modern and contemporary dealers, Nova and Positions for recent work and emerging artists, Survey, Kabinett, Meridians for large-scale works, the Zero 10 digital art platform, and the Conversations talks program. Art Basel’s closing report says the 2025 edition brought together 283 galleries from 43 countries and territories and drew more than 80,000 visitors. The 2026 public days are December 4 to 6, with invitation-only VIP days on December 2 and 3; tickets are sold only through Art Basel’s official ticket shop.
