Citywide.TV is an independent local news site covering technology, business, marine and music news from Fort Lauderdale to Ocean City, Maryland. This page explains how we report, how we keep editorial coverage separate from paid work, and how we use AI.

Who is responsible

Brian Firth, Editor and Tech Reporter. Brian is responsible for everything published on Citywide.TV. Story tips, press releases and corrections: brian@citywide.tv. Read more on our About page and Brian’s author page.

How we report

  • We go to events in person when we can: CES in Las Vegas, boat shows, expos, conferences and local meetups. Photos and video credited “Photo: Citywide.TV” were taken by us.
  • We check facts against primary sources: company announcements, organizers, official filings and the people involved. Our longer stories list their sources.
  • We label what we expect to happen as an expectation, not an announcement, and we date-stamp event details so readers know when they were last checked.
  • Event guides are updated when details change, and marked when an event has passed.

Independence and paid work

  • Editorial coverage is never for sale. Companies cannot pay to be included in, or kept out of, a news story or event guide.
  • Citywide.TV also offers paid video production and directory listings. Paid work is handled separately from news coverage, and any sponsored content is clearly labeled as sponsored.
  • If we cover a company that Citywide.TV or our editor has a business relationship with, we disclose that in the story.
  • Review units, press access and hosted travel are disclosed when they shape a story.

How we use AI

  • We use AI tools to help with research, transcription, editing, translation and video production.
  • AI-generated images and video are labeled “AI-generated” or “Illustration” in the caption. Real photos and footage are credited to us or to their source.
  • We never present AI-generated images as real events, and we never invent quotes.
  • A human editor is responsible for every story we publish and reviews the facts it contains.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction at the bottom of the story. Email brian@citywide.tv with the link and what needs correcting.
