Chewy, Inc. is an online pet retailer headquartered in Plantation, Florida. It trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CHWY.
Chewy was founded in 2011. It sells about 190,000 products from roughly 4,000 brands, plus its own private-label lines. The range covers food, supplies, pharmacy items and veterinary care. The company says its fulfillment network can reach more than 80% of the U.S. population overnight and almost all of it within two days. Its Autoship subscription program, which reorders products automatically, makes up most of its revenue. In the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Autoship sales were $2.82 billion, or 84.6% of net sales.
Chewy’s customers are pet owners in the United States and Canada. The company had 21.7 million active customers as of August 2, 2026. According to its most recent annual report, it employed about 18,000 full- and part-time workers as of February 1, 2026. Sumit Singh is CEO.
The company has been expanding into pet healthcare through its Chewy Vet Care clinics. In October 2025, it announced it would acquire SmartEquine, the SmartPak equine health business, from Covetrus. On April 8, 2026, Chewy announced a deal to acquire Modern Animal, a veterinary group with 29 clinics. At the time, Chewy ran 18 Vet Care clinics, so the deal would bring the total to 47. Chewy said Modern Animal had more than $125 million in annualized revenue.
Recent news: On September 9, 2026, Chewy reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 net sales of $3.33 billion, up 7.3% from a year earlier, and net income of $80.5 million. Those results include SmartPak and Modern Animal. The company raised its full-year revenue and profitability outlook.
