ShipMonk ShipMonk

ShipMonk is a Fort Lauderdale company that provides third-party logistics (3PL) and order fulfillment for ecommerce brands. It stores inventory for online sellers, then picks, packs and ships their orders to consumers and business customers.

Jan Bednar, an immigrant from the Czech Republic, founded the company in 2014. It grew out of an earlier venture called BedaBox and began as a bootstrapped operation in an apartment. It has kept its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale. The company says it has about a dozen fulfillment centers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.

ShipMonk’s services include direct-to-consumer and B2B fulfillment and fulfillment for Amazon FBA, Prime and crowdfunding campaigns. It also handles returns, cross-border shipping, hazardous materials and custom packaging, and it compares rates across multiple carriers. Its own software combines order, warehouse and inventory management. It connects with Shopify, BigCommerce, eBay and Loop Returns. The company says its network can reach 95% of the U.S. within two days. Customers have included Dr. Squatch, Larroudé and TAO Clean.

In June 2023, Bednar stepped down as CEO. Josh McCarter, a former Mindbody executive, succeeded him after an 18-month search, then left in late 2024 to lead EverCommerce’s EverPro unit.

Recent news: In February 2026, ShipMonk earned SOC 2 Type II certification, an independent audit of its security controls. In March 2026, it opened its first fulfillment center built specifically for apparel brands, in Louisville, Kentucky. The same month, it filed a WARN notice to close a 332,000-square-foot facility in San Bernardino, California, affecting 124 workers, effective June 30, 2026. In July 2026, Inbound Logistics named ShipMonk to its list of the Top 100 3PLs for 2026.
