International Superyacht Society (ISS)
The International Superyacht Society (ISS) is a member-driven industry association for the large yacht sector, founded in 1989 and based in the Fort Lauderdale area. It describes itself as the representative organization of the large yacht industry, with a mission to promote excellence and ensure sustainability in global yachting.
ISS connects builders, designers, captains, crew and other industry professionals through its international network, committees and educational Leadership Series events. Volunteer board and committee members work on marketing, education, awards, technical matters and wider industry initiatives. The current board is led by President John Venables.
Its best-known event is the Design & Leadership Awards Gala, held on the opening night of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The black-tie evening honors the year’s naval architects, interior designers, builders, captains and crew. The 2026 gala is on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. ISS also hosts an annual Member’s Breakfast at Lauderdale Yacht Club.
