Professional Women in Yachting (PWY)
Professional Women in Yachting (PWY) is a Fort Lauderdale-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports women working across the marine industry and raises money for marine science and ocean conservation. It was founded in 2022 by Samantha Moore.
PWY hosts forums, panels and social events that bring together captains, crew and industry professionals. Its events are women-led, and men are welcome to join as allies. The organization has also offered legal referrals and support for crew members facing workplace issues, and it has taken its events abroad, including an appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2024.
Its fundraising currently benefits the Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) at the Carpenter House in Hollywood Beach. PWY has also partnered with Nova Southeastern University, including its annual Baby Sea Turtle Hatchling Release Beach Bash, and around the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show it runs charity events during show week.
